Hakodate City Tram and Bus

Hakodate City Tram (Streetcar) Route Map

There are two Hakodate tram lines: red (Y) and blue (D). The red (Y) and blue (D) lines are the same from the Yunokawa area to the Jujigai area on the right side of the map, but the lines divide into the (D) Hakodate Dotsukumae direction and the (Y) Yachigashira direction from Jujigai.

Operating hours: 6 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Fare: 1 ride – 200 yen for adults 100 yen for children
City Tram 1 Day Pass, Smartphone 1-Day City Tram Pass: 600 yen for adults, 300 yen for children

※In addition to cash, IC cards (ICAS nimoca), one-day tram passes, and one/two-day combined passes for both trams and Hakodate Bus are recommended.

Perks: Separate route map and sightseeing area map are included. Some facilities and stores offer discounts when you present your ticket.

Smartphone 1-Day City Tram Pass

A one-day pass for unlimited rides on all Hakodate tram lines. All you have to do is show your smartphone ticket screen to the bus driver when you get off!

Useable areas:unlimited boarding of all Hakodate tram lines on the day of use.
Fee:600 yen for adults, 300 yen for children
Place of Sale:can be purchased online from a web browser.
Charging locations:* A smartphone or tablet with connection and a credit card (VISA or MASTERCARD) are required.

The Hakodate Bus connects tourist spots at Mt. Hakodate, Goryokaku, Trappistine Monastery, Hakodate Airport, Onuma Park, Shikabe, Nanae, Kikonai, Matsumae, Esashi, Yakumo, and Oshamambe towns in the southern part of Hokkaido.

This is a one-day unlimited ride ticket for all Hakodate Bus lines (within the designated area).

ICAS nimoca

An IC card that can be used on railroads and buses with the "ic" mark anywhere in Japan.

Useable areas:Hakodate Bus, city tram, and all corresponding areas in Japan.
Fee:2,000 yen (1,500 yen available as fare, 500 yen deposit).
Place of sale:Hakodate Bus and city tram, Hakodate Station Bus Information Center in front of Hakodate Station, Hakodate Bus Offices, etc.
Charging locations:Onboard the Hakodate Bus and tram, Hakodate Station Bus Information Center in front of Hakodate Station, charging machines, convenience stores

Hakodate Bus and City Tram 1-day/2-day Tickets​

Passengers are free to board and disembark as many times as they wish on the day of their choosing (two consecutive days for two-day tickets).

Useable Area:Unlimited rides on all city tram lines and Hakodate Bus routes in designated areas.
*The Hakodate Bus service is limited to certain areas.
Fee:1-day combined pass 1,000 yen for adults, 500 yen for children
2-day combined pass 1,700 yen for adults, 850 yen for children

Mt.Hakodate Ropeway

The scenery can appear completely different depending on the time of day.

Motomachi Roman Catholic Church

One of four churches in the Motomachi area of Hakodate.
* 10 minute walk from Jujigai and Suehiro-cho tram stops.

Hakodate Jomon Culture Center

Permanent exhibition of the Hollow Clay Figurine -- Hokkaido's only national treasure.
* 15 minute walk from Usujiri Elementary School stop. Board from stop No. 6 from in front of Hakodate Station, bound for Shikabe via Kawakumi.

Goryokaku Park

A flat castle in the shape of a five-pointed star. The former Hakodate Magistrate's Office is located at the center.
* 15-minute walk from Goryokaku Koenmae tram stop.
