South Hokkaido Railway

The South Hokkaido Railway runs for about 38 kilometers between Kikonai Station and Goryokaku Station (JR Line from Goryokaku Station to Hakodate Station). There are many sightseeing spots along the line, and you can enjoy coastal scenery from the train.

Value boarding ticket

This ticket allows for unlimited rides on all South Hokkaido Railway lines (Kikonai – Goryokaku), JR Hakodate Main Line (Hakodate – Mori) regular and rapid trains, all Hakodate tram lines, Hakodate Bus (all lines in Hakodate City, Hokuto City, Nanae Town and Shikabe Town, Sawara Line (Mori Station – Sawara Higashi 3-chome), Nigorikawa Line, Hakodate – Shiriuchi Line from Hakodate Bus Center to Kikonai Station, Matsumae Line from Hakodate Station to Kikonai Station).

Fee: 1-day pass 2,690 yen for adults, 1,340 yen for children
        2-day pass 3,650 yen for adults, 1,810 yen for children

This ticket is available only to holders of the “Sennen (thousand years) Hokkaido Bus Pass (Esashi and Matsumae Round Trip Free Pass).” The ticket can be used to take the Donan Isaribi Railway from Kikonai to Goryokaku one time.
(The railway cannot be boarded from the middle of the route or to travel in the opposite direction. Moreover, the ticket will expire if you disembark along the way.)

Trappist Monastery

The first Catholic men's monastery in Japan located in Hokuto City.

Hokutosei Square

The "Hokutosei," a sleeper train that attracted much attention, is on exhibit.

Tulips at Cape Saraki

50,000 tulips of 60 varieties bloom in May at Cape Saraki.

Donan Trolley Train

A facility where visitors can ride a trolley along a 2.9 km track.
* A 30-minute walk from Kikonai Station.
