Shiretoko World Natural Heritage Site and Abashiri National Park are located in this magnificent area. Facing the Sea of Okhotsk, famous for its drift ice, the area is rich in seafood thanks to the plankton (microorganisms) that come with the drift ice. It is also an agricultural area with field crops and dairy farming as the main crops.
